Decking Material:
Composite or Wood?
Yellow pine wooden decking boards are the most in-expensive option and the most common due to that factor. Although wood can create a beautiful space for your yard, composite decking has its' advantages. It does not require stain or paint like wood and require minimal maintenance. Also, this material will not warp, split, rot, or fade. Composite decking is composed of wood fibers and recycled plastic that makes them resistant to insects. If the busget allows it, composite decking is the way to go.
Raillings Styles
There are many options to consider when deciding on a railing style. Some can allow a space to feel more open to the yard while others create more division. If your deck it no more than 30 inches off the ground, you may decide to go with no railings. Some examples are pictured below.
